Top Ten Scary Movies For Halloween
Well Halloween weekend is among us and for me there is no enjoying Halloween without scary movies. Now, I know there are lots of blogs out there this weekend blogging about scary movies, I myself have read many such entries in hopes to find a new gem to rent. With this in mind, I know these won’t be everyone’s favorites but for me, they are the ones that truly give me the willies if watching them alone in a dark house.
10. Paranormal Activity
Being a fan of ghost hunting and television shows dealing with that makes this a great movie for me. The scenes that capture demon activity are as exciting as they are dreadful. You would think knowing that the scenes are made up just like any other movie would detract from the realistic nature of the movie but for me it’s still pretty creepy.

9. The Signal
There’s something about the atmosphere in this film that gets to me. A frantic and wild search for sanity and calm that seems so elusive to the heroes of this film. I like it because it relies more on the actors to perpetuate the disturbing nature of the story rather than being a simple gore-fest and it’s has the gritty feel of an independent release.

8. High Tension
This is a straight-up slasher film that’s got a ton of dread mixed into it and a surprise ending that’s pretty cool. The kill scenes are the kind that makes you wince a bit but I guess I like this the most because of the suspense it adequately applies. It’s not really a scary feeling while watching but it does bring me to the edge of my seat hoping the heroine survives.

7. Pet Sematary
An oldie but a goodie, Pet Sematary is a Stephen King classic horror film. For me, the hide under the cover scene is when Zelda is sick in bed and her little sister attempts to feed her. Yikes, that gives me the willies!

6. Amityville Horror (2005)
I liked the remake a lot more than I figured I would. I had seen all the other Amityville Horror movies before and wasn’t really expecting much out of this one but there are lots of what I call ‘scare-jump scenes’ in this remake that makes it one of those films I don’t want to watch alone. Scare-jump scenes, are those scenes when you know something is about to happen, you expect it and brace for it but then somehow the director is able to surprise you with it anyway, making you jump out of your skin. If you haven’t seen this one, I think you might like it. It’s a lot of fun.

5. 28 Days Later
Zombie movies have always been my favorite kind of horror flicks. I know there are Romero devotees who would lambaste me for not including a classic in this list but for my money, 28 Days Later does a fine job of bringing back the zombie genre and more importantly, giving our first glimpse at ‘fast zombies’ which just put slow zombies to shame. Fast zombies are much scarier.

4. Quarantine
This is an English remake of the movie REC. Both movies are really very good and frightening but personally, I prefer Quarantine just because I don’t much care for subtitles. There’s tons of ‘scare-jumps’ in this one and you can’t help but cringing in some scenes. Jitter-cam first person perspective storytelling in it’s finest!

3. The Shining
Stephen King’s The Shining is masterful horror fare directed by the genius Stanley Kubrick. The film is thick with atmosphere and dread which sets up some of the most horrific, nightmarish scenes ever put to film. It’s a classic so you won’t see many of the ‘scare-jump’ scenes in this movie but for a creepy story projected by the great Jack Nicholson, it’s a real piece of work. This movie is why the world creeps when they see twin little girls.

2. The Exorcist
I realize that this movie is at the top of everyone’s list and I struggled with that for quite a while but for me The Exorcist is an almost perfect horror movie. It mixes imagery and sound masterfully to make the viewer sink into a pit of darkness that I haven’t seen from any other movie. Half the time I’m trying to figure out these quirky characters while the other half I’m flinching in horror from sounds that surely must be of the devil. Watch the directors cut to see things that just ain’t right.

1. The Blair Witch Project
I can hear the comments already. “Dude, The Blair Witch Project? That’s your number one? Really?” I say, “Yes, really it is!” I made this list a little different than others in that I wanted to include movies that successfully make me not want to watch them alone in a dark house. Most horror movies are not like this. They offer a few chills, they throw in one or two scare-jump scenes but they don’t make me think twice before watching them if I’m alone.
The Blair Witch Project is at number one because there are scenes in it that actually turn me into a little six year old girl. Another film that masterfully uses the jitter-cam first persons perspective and crazy audio to fill my heart with dread. The Blair Witch Project is an ultimate example of the fact that it’s what you can’t see that’s a million times more frightening than what you can see.
Horror purists can hate me, but there you have it.

Breaking Bad: Respect The Chemistry
“Respect The Chemistry”
In the first season of Breaking Bad, Walt makes it clear that one must “respect the chemistry”, which is a little hard to do as a viewer because he fancies ‘cooking’ in his tidy whities to keep the odor of his concoction from permeating his street clothes, of course.
Walter White’s styling in his tidy whities and that’s why I designed my second Breaking Bad t-shirt to include chemistry utensils and a pair of men’s briefs with the quote beneath “respect the chemistry” and all in Breaking Bad green, of course.

Every Day I’m Shufflin’
It’s Friday! Time to celebrate and rock the house, no? Well, I work through weekends mostly so not just a big deal for me but I found this funny remake of the LMFAO Party Rock Anthem video that I thought would get your weekend kicked off with a smile.
Party Rock Anthem has been in the charts for quite a while now. Are you getting tired of hearing it yet? I don’t listen to radio much so I guess I still enjoy listening to it because it’s not on all the time. Leave me a comment and let me know. Usually a hit song starts to rub me the wrong way within a week or so of radio stations murdering it by driving it into my brain every fifteen minutes.
I liked this video so much that I decided to design a couple more Every Day Im Shuffling shirts.

Nobody Expects The Spanish Inquisition
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition is a reoccurring skit that aired on BBC’s Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The joke was that whenever someone was being quizzed or interrogated in a linked skit and say “Well, I certainly didn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition!”, the three cardinals of the Spanish Inquisition would pop out and announce, “Nobody Expects The Spanish Inquisition!”.

Being the card carrying geek that I am, Monty Python ranks high in my book of comedy genius. The Monty Python comedy troupe included brilliant comedians, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Each episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus offers over-the-top comedic acting and stabbing British humor that makes my sides sore from hilarity. Watch the video of “Nobody Expects The Spanish Inquisition” below to see what I mean.

Game of Thrones:: The House Of Lannister
This is the second in a three part series of shirt designs to tribute the outstanding HBO television epic, Game of Thrones. The House of Lannister is the richest of all the houses in the seven kingdoms and the characters in the Lannister family are extremely interesting. The series follows Tyrion Lannister (pictured above) the most as a key character it seems to me. Tyrion is a little man caught in a big man’s world of extreme violence but he fares well being of respected name and means.
Tyrion Lannister is the most favored character to fans of the Game of Thrones series. He has a penchant for drink and whores but is a highly intelligent “dwarf” and as endearing as the character is, he can be ruthless and cunning, especially to those who mistreat the downtrodden and deformed. He is certainly one of the most likable characters as he is the most humorous of all. I knew I had to do a Lannister design and well, this is it.
The Lannister sigil is a golden lion on a field of crimson so I was sure to make that the focal point in this design. I have the Lannister words “Hear Me Roar” beneath the regal lions head and put a crest and swords as a background. Altogether this is an extremely regal design that looks really cool on a t-shirt. I think it will make a wonderful gift for any Game of Thrones fan.

Are You ‘Breaking Bad’?
Breaking Bad is a hit crime drama/comedy series airing on AMC and in it’s forth season.
I don’t often blog about television shows that I watch. In my house we watch a lot of them but we wait until a series has finished to watch them so we can get it on DVD or Netflix saving us from having to endure the endless commercials the broadcast channels force you to watch. Anywho, as I said, I don’t usually blog about television series that I watch but Breaking Bad is one that took me by surprise. I honestly didn’t think I would like this show nearly as much as I do.
Breaking Bad: Why I Thought It Would Suck
As I said, I didn’t think I would like this show at all before watching it. Normally crime dramas just don’t do it for me. I don’t know why, I think the writing is just too repetitive. Seems like if you watch one crime drama you see them all. At least from my point of view. I read so much about ‘The Wire’ and how good it was supposed to be but eh, I couldn’t get past two episodes myself. Hey, it’s my own hang-up though. Street slang just flies right over this middle aged honkey’s head. I’m sorry but ‘The Wire’ is 95% in street slang and I need a translator to figure out what’s going on.
Anyway, I figured Breaking Bad was going to be just as, heh, bad as ‘The Wire’. I mean, there’s Jessie, the rap-boy-wanna-be and the show does involve drug gangs and meth. Just ugly stuff to me, really. I prefer to live in my straight laced domicile of mediocrity and try to pretend the world isn’t so scary.
Breaking Bad: Why I Was Wrong
Breaking Bad is no ordinary crime drama. This show has a LOT of character, superb acting and the writing is beyond top-notch. The cinematography is breathtaking, man, even the soundtrack is amazing. This show has it all but more important than anything, it isn’t just a crime drama. It’s also a very effective comedy. Not in every episode mind you, but in just about every one, there’s usually a time that I break out in a tear-inducing laughing fit. The situations the lead characters get themselves into are just jaw-dropping and often hilarious.
If you haven’t seen Breaking Bad yet, start with season one and enjoy the ride.

NEW! Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks, I’m sure you have seen the popular YouTube video titled “Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger” featuring Randall from a series of comical wildlife videos known as “Randall’s Wild Wild World of Animals”. The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger video hit stardom proportions when it received over twelve million views to date. The other videos, however funny, haven’t been as popular.
Seeing as how popular the video is, I checked it out again and still think it’s hilarious. Something about Randall’s careless use of profanity and unusual, rather light-in-the-loafers speech is just funny to me. After watching the video and seeing how popular my Honey Badger Shirt has become, I decided to design another one but this time, get a little crazy with it.
New Honey Badger Don’t Care shirt features a crazy nastyass honey badger with a cobra in one hand and a beehive under his arm to parody the hit YouTube video. Bees surround the hive and the Honey Badger design I came up with is certainly well, crazyassed.

Here is the other Honey Badger Shirt I designed. Randall’s video comes off like a normal “Wild Kingdom” type show at first and then when Randall starts talking, you immediately know this is no ordinary nature show. It’s very funny. If you haven’t seen ‘Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger” yet, I’ve posted it at the top of this update.
This design is a little more toned down than the one above, giving it a rather classy appeal while still referencing the very funny video.

Sexy Romana In Dutch Megahit Video
The internet can be a cruel and unusual place. You read a headline like the one above and immediately you are drawn to the siren promise of lusty ladies moving and grooving in sensual fashion, your mind is fixed on the image as you click on the link wondering what beauty and grace you will find and then, this happens;
Now, I’m truly sorry for introducing you to this horrific video but hopefully, after your brain stops melting, you will realize the humor in it. This is actually the best video I’ve seen in ages. Sexy? No, but hilarious? Absolutely. Romana is a gift from heaven in more ways than I can even describe at this point.
